Legal document services in India: affidavits, deeds and gazette notifications prepared by Documentadvisor
The paperwork behind the services on this page.

Government paperwork in India is rarely difficult. It is confusing. The form exists, the office exists, the fee exists, and yet people lose weeks because nobody told them which of the three offices actually handles their case, or which document has to be fixed first. That is the job we do.

A documentation consultancy prepares, files and tracks your paperwork with the relevant Government offices. We are not a Government body and we do not pretend to be one. We charge a service fee for the work, the Government fee goes to the Government, and both are always shown to you as two separate lines before you pay anything.

Key takeaways

  • Pick your service by the document that is causing the problem, not by the process name.
  • Our fee and the Government fee are always quoted separately, before any work starts.
  • Everything is handled remotely. Only notarisation needs a person to be present.
  • Where a job belongs at a different office, we say so and point you there rather than selling you ours.
  • Government fees on gazette work are non-refundable, so wording is confirmed in writing first.
  • One advisor handles your file end to end, on the number you first called.

Everything Documentadvisor Handles

Fifty four services across seven categories, organised by the kind of document rather than by the office that issues it. Tap any card and we will take that case.

Do not see your document? The list above is what we handle most often, not a limit. Send a photograph of whatever paperwork is causing the problem to 9540005064 on WhatsApp and we will tell you whether it is ours, or whose it is.

How It Works

Four steps from your first message to the finished document. You never visit an office.

Tell us the problem

Call or WhatsApp a photograph of the document that is causing trouble. We name the right service and the right office, free of charge, before you commit to anything.

Get a fixed quote

Our service fee and the Government fee are quoted as two separate lines, with the timeline. Nothing starts until you agree to both.

We draft and file

Drafting, your written confirmation of the wording, notarisation or registration, filing at the correct office, and the follow up until it moves.

You get the document

The finished document by email and, where it exists on paper, by post. Plus a written note of what to update next and in what order.

The three legal steps behind a name change

Our busiest service is the gazette name change, and it always rests on three steps. A notarised affidavit stating the old and new name. A notice in two newspapers, one regional language and one English, with identical wording. Then the gazette notification itself, published in Part IV of the Gazette of India or in your State Gazette. Nobody can skip a step for you, and any provider who claims to is describing an affidavit and calling it a gazette.

Two things worth knowing before anyone quotes you. Personal notices publish in Part IV of the Gazette of India, and there is exactly one Central Gazette office: the Department of Publication at Civil Lines, behind the Delhi Vidhan Sabha Metro Station, Delhi 110054. Any website showing that pin code in another city has copied a wrong address. And a birth certificate error is a Registrar correction under Section 15 of the RBD Act, 1969, not a gazette. We do that work, at the correct office.
Everything else on this page follows the same shape: the right document, drafted correctly, filed at the office that actually has the power to act on it. Most of the value we add is in that second word, correctly, and in knowing which office it is.

Your Trust and Security First

Paperwork means handing your identity documents to someone you have never met. We take that seriously.

The right service, first time

We name the correct service and the correct office before anything is drafted. Filing at the wrong office is the most expensive mistake in this business, and it is entirely avoidable.

Two numbers, always

Our fee and the Government fee are quoted as two separate lines, in writing, before any work starts. You always know exactly which part reaches the Government.

Nothing prints without your yes

The exact wording goes to you letter by letter and nothing is printed, notarised or filed until you confirm it. On gazette work the fee is non-refundable, so this step protects your money.

One advisor, start to finish

The same person handles your file from the first scan to the finished document, on the same number you first called. You never repeat your case to somebody new.

We say no when it is not ours

If your case belongs at the Registrar, the education board or the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, we say so and point you there. We would rather lose the job than sell you the wrong one.

Private and safe

Your scans go to one advisor and one file, used only for your application. We do not resell your details, and originals come back to you once the file is accepted.

A typical case we handle: a man in Indore who paid an agent for a gazette to fix the spelling of his name on his birth certificate, then found the record was still wrong because a gazette cannot rewrite a birth register. The gazette was real; it was simply the wrong service for his problem. We filed the Registrar correction he actually needed. This is an illustrative example of the type of case we handle, not a named client review.

Where we work

Our office is in Burari, Delhi, and we file across the country. Central Gazette work is filed in Delhi, so your own location does not limit you.

Some work is unavoidably local, such as a sub-registrar appointment or a state certificate. We tell you at the quote stage which part needs a person in that district, and how we handle it.

!-- ===================== AFTER ===================== -->

Update your records in this order

For name change work, doing this in the wrong order is what turns a four week job into a four month one.

The order in which to update records after a gazette is published
OrderRecordWhy it comes here
1AadhaarAlmost every other service verifies against Aadhaar. Update it first at an Aadhaar Seva Kendra with the gazette, affidavit and newspaper pages.
2PAN cardThe correction form asks for proof, and an updated Aadhaar makes this straightforward.
3Bank accountsBanks check the PAN and Aadhaar pair. Updating the bank before both are done causes a mismatch.
4PassportRe-issue with a change of name. The gazette is the accepted proof, and the newspaper notices are often checked too.
5Voter ID and driving licenceStraightforward once Aadhaar carries the new name.
6EPFO, UAN and insuranceEmployer-linked records. Your HR department usually needs the gazette on file first.
7School, board and university recordsSlowest of the lot. Each board has its own correction form and its own fee.
8Property, GST and business recordsHandle last, once the identity documents all agree with each other.
Keep the originals safe. Keep the notarised affidavit, both full newspaper pages and a printed copy of the gazette PDF together in one folder. You will be asked for the set again, often years later, and reprinting a gazette page is easy but recovering a lost newspaper page is not.

Marriage, divorce, minors and sensitive cases

Surname change after marriage

The marriage certificate does not change your name by itself. You still need the affidavit, the newspaper notices and the gazette, with the certificate attached as supporting proof. Many women choose the Central route because a passport re-issue is usually next on the list.

Reverting after divorce

Going back to a maiden name follows the same three steps with the decree attached. The affidavit states that you are resuming the name you used before marriage. A decree alone is not accepted by Aadhaar or by banks as a name change proof.

Anything involving a minor

For anyone under 18, both parents or the legal guardian apply on the child's behalf and the minor Government rate applies. Where only one parent signs, a custody or guardianship order is required, and we tell you upfront if your case needs one.

Religion, gender and adoption

Each has its own document set. Gender notifications follow the Department of Publication guidelines for change of name and gender. Adoption cases need the deed or court order alongside the birth certificate. All handled quietly and without a lecture.

Bereavement and succession work is handled with the same care. Death certificate, legal heir certificate, succession certificate and the bank and insurance claims that follow, in the order that actually works. Call 9540005002 and ask for the documentation desk.

Frequently asked questions

Clear answers to the questions we hear most often.

What services does Documentadvisor provide?+
Fifty four services in seven categories: name change and gazette, identity and ID updates, certificates and records, property and land documents, family, will and succession, agreements, affidavits and notices, and business registration and compliance. If your document is not on the list, send it to us and we will tell you whether it is ours.
Is Documentadvisor a Government office?+
No. Documentadvisor is a private documentation consultancy. We prepare and file your paperwork with the relevant Government offices and charge a service fee for that work. The Government fee is paid to the Government and always shown to you as a separate line.
How much do you charge?+
Basic is Rs 1,999 and Complete is Rs 3,999, both plus Government fees. Property, business and court-linked work is quoted per case because the effort varies too much for a fixed tier. Either way you see our number and the Government number in writing before anything starts.
What are the Government fees on a name change?+
The Central Gazette Government fee is commonly Rs 1,100 for an adult and Rs 1,700 for a minor, paid through BharatKosh. The Department of Publication revises it each financial year, so we confirm it on the day you file. Stamp paper and newspaper charges are separate again.
Do I need to visit your office?+
No. Everything is handled remotely. You send scans on WhatsApp and we do the drafting, the filing and the follow up. Notarisation, biometric steps such as Aadhaar, and a sub-registrar appointment for property registration need a person present, and we say which of those applies before you commit.
How long does a gazette name change take?+
The Central Gazette route commonly takes 30 to 45 days from filing to publication. Counting the affidavit and the newspaper notices, most people finish in about 3 to 7 weeks. Document updates afterwards, such as Aadhaar and passport, run on their own separate timelines.
Is an affidavit alone enough to change my name?+
No. An affidavit is only the first step. Aadhaar, PAN, passport and most employers ask for the gazette notification as the proof of a legal name change, so stopping at the affidavit usually leads to a rejection later.
Do I need a gazette to fix a spelling mistake in my birth certificate?+
No. A birth certificate correction is a Registrar correction under Section 15 of the Registration of Births and Deaths Act, 1969, handled by the municipal body that issued the certificate. We do this work, but as a Registrar correction rather than a gazette. Anyone selling you a gazette for it is selling you the wrong service.
Can you help with property documents?+
Yes. Sale deeds, gift deeds, rent and lease agreements, power of attorney, mutation, partition and relinquishment deeds, and verification of the chain of title before you pay an advance. Stamp duty and registration charges differ by state and are quoted separately.
Do you draft wills and handle succession?+
Yes. Will drafting and registration, legal heir certificates, succession certificates and surviving member certificates, plus the bank and insurance claims that follow. Registering a will at the sub-registrar makes it considerably harder to challenge later.
Can you register a company or get me a GST number?+
Yes. Private limited company, LLP, one person company and partnership firm registration, plus GST, MSME and Udyam, FSSAI licences and trademark filing. Company incorporation goes through the Ministry of Corporate Affairs and typically takes 7 to 15 days once directors complete their verification.
Do you provide legal advice or appear in court?+
No. We prepare and file documents. We are not a law firm and we do not appear for you in any court or tribunal. Where a case genuinely needs an advocate, we say so plainly instead of taking the work.
How do I know which service I need?+
Pick by the document that is causing the problem, not by the process name. If you are unsure, send a photograph of that document to 9540005064 on WhatsApp. We will tell you which service applies, or tell you plainly that your case belongs at a different office.
Do you work outside Delhi?+
Yes, across all 28 states and 8 Union Territories. Central Gazette work is filed in Delhi regardless of where you live. Some steps are unavoidably local, such as a sub-registrar appointment or a state certificate, and we tell you which part needs someone in that district.
Is my information kept private?+
Yes. Your scans go to one advisor and one file, used only for your application. We do not resell your details and we do not add you to a marketing list. Originals come back to you once the file is accepted, and we keep a scanned set so a lost document years later is not a fresh problem.
What if the work gets rejected?+
We tell you why and what it takes to fix it. Where the rejection came from something we controlled, we correct it. Where a Government fee is non-refundable, as on gazette work, we say so honestly rather than pretending otherwise, which is exactly why wording is confirmed with you in writing first.
Can NRIs and OCI holders use your services?+
Yes. Gazette applications from abroad carry a higher fee, commonly around Rs 7,500 to Rs 9,000. Documents are usually attested at the Indian mission or handled through a representative in India holding an authorisation from you.
How do I start?+
Send a clear photograph of the document causing the problem to 9540005064 on WhatsApp, or call 9540005002. Tell us your state. We reply the same working day with the right service, the total cost split into our fee and the Government fee, and the timeline.

Who we are

Documentadvisor is a private documentation consultancy working out of Burari, Delhi. We prepare, file and follow up legal paperwork with Government offices across India: gazette notifications, affidavits, certificates, property deeds, wills, agreements and business registrations. This page is written and maintained by our documentation desk, the same team that handles the files.

The fees, portals, office addresses and legal references here are checked against the Government sources listed below rather than copied from other documentation websites. Where a figure changes from year to year, such as the Central Gazette fee, we say so instead of presenting it as fixed. Where a job belongs at a different office, we say that too.
